It Started in 1968
General Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. was founded in 1968 by Jack Patterson, William Salyers, Charles Lykins, and Dick Dodge to meet a growing need for heating and air conditioning systems in the new homes being built around the Flatwoods, Kentucky region.
Dick Dodge left the company during that first year, leaving Jack, William, and Charles as the three owners who would go on to build GHAC into a Tri-State institution.
Roots of Generations
Embedded within the very fabric of GHAC is a rich heritage of family dedication and unwavering principles. From the earliest memories of our founders to the present-day leadership of President Will Patterson, each generation has added to the values that define who we are.
The new-home market was booming, and by the early 1970s GHAC had become the largest reseller of Amana heating and cooling products in the nation, even opening a branch office in Minford, Ohio managed by Charles Lykins.
